Diesel Excise Tax Rate Adjustments in Response to Market Instability

A Ministerial Regulation Fixing the Excise Tax Tariff (No. 25) B.E. 2565 (2022) was published on July 20th, 2022, temporarily lowering and fixing the excise tax rates on diesel oil and oils containing Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME). Excise taxes have been lowered between July 21st, 2022, and September 20th, 2022, at the following rates:

Type of Oil THB per liter
Diesel oil containing, regardless of sulfur content 1.44 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME not exceeding 4% 1.44 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME between 4% – 7% 1.340 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME between 7% – 9% 1.330 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME between 9% – 14% 1.300 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME between 14% – 19% 1.230 THB per liter
Diesel oil containing biodiesel FAME between 19% – 24% 1.153 THB per liter

 

Note: a fraction of a liter shall be considered one liter.

This Regulation was issued in response to rising diesel oil prices and high fluctuation affecting the cost of living in Thailand. These measures are meant to alleviate economic pressure on the Thai people as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
