Thailand Raises Minimum Wage Rates

The National Wage Committee’s Notification on Minimum Wage Rate (No.11), issued on 26th of August 2022 and effective as of the 1st of October 2022, introduces new minimum wages in Thailand. The Notification No. 11 repeals the Notice of Wage Committee Re Minimum Wage Rates (No. 10) dated 6th of December 2019.  The notice stipulates that the workday shall not exceed the following work hours:

1.   Seven hours, for works which may be hazardous to health and safety of the employee under the Ministerial Regulations No. 2 (B.E. 2541 (1998)) Issued under Labor Protection Act B.E. 2543 (2000); or

2.   Eight hours, for other works which are not works under (1).

By virtue of Section 79 (3) and Section 88 of the Labor Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998), amended by the Labor Protection Act (No. 3) B.E. 2551 (2008), the Notification raises the minimum wages as follows:

✓   Baht three hundred and fifty-four (THB 354) per day in the localities of Chon Buri, Phuket, and Rayong.

✓   Baht three hundred and fifty-three (THB 353) per day in the localities of Bangkok Metropolis, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon.

✓   Baht three hundred and forty-five (THB 345) per day in the locality of Chachoengsao.

✓   Baht three hundred and forty-three (THB 343) per day in the locality of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

✓   Baht three hundred and forty (THB 340) per day in the localities of Krabi, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Trad, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachin Buri, Phang Nga, Lopburi, Songkhla, Sara Buri, Suphan Buri, Surat Thani, Nong Khai, and Ubon Ratchathani.

✓   Baht three hundred and thirty-eight (THB 338) per day in the localities of Kalasin, Chanthaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Mukdahan, Sakhon Nakhon, and Samut Songkram.

✓   Baht three hundred and thirty-five (THB 335) per day in the localities of Kanchanaburi, Chai Nat, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Sawan, Bung Kan, Buriram, Prachuab Khiri Khan, Phayao, Phattalung, Phetchaburi, Phitsanuloke, Phetchabun, Yasothon, Roi-et, Loei, Sra Kaew, Surin, Ang Thong, and Uttaradit.

✓   Baht three hundred and thirty-two (THB 332) per day in the localities of Khamphang Phet, Chaiyaphum, Chumphon, Chiang Rai, Trang, Tak, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phichit, Phrae, Maha Sarakham, Mae Hong Son, Ranong, Ratchaburi, Lampang, Lamphun, Sri Sa Ket, Satun, Sing Buri, Sukhothai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Amnat Charoen, and Uthai Thani.

✓   Baht three hundred and twenty-eight (THB 328) per day in the localities of Narathiwat, Nan, Pattani, Yala, and Udon Thani.
