Bangkok – On 18 October 2023, Mahanakorn Partners Group (MPG) and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) co-organized a collaborative and insightful Roundtable Discussion titled ‘Unlocking the Power of Arbitration’ for the benefit of industry leaders in Thailand. This exclusive event, hosted at MPG Law offices, brought together approximately thirty C-Level executives and Directors of private and joint-stock companies in Thailand, judges, university professors, and other academic representatives.
Mr. Luca Bernardinetti, Chairman and Managing Partner at MPG, set the stage by extending a warm welcome to the esteemed guests. He captivated the audience by presenting two compelling case studies that highlighted MPG’s extensive expertise and thought leadership in Banking & Finance. The case studies illustrated a cross-border trade and a project finance transaction, where skillfully crafted arbitration clauses played a pivotal role.
Following Mr. Bernardinetti’s insightful presentation, Gloria Lim, Chief Executive Officer at SIAC, and Snigdha Bhatta, Deputy Counsel at SIAC, took the stage to elaborate on the benefits of Singapore as the preferred seat for international dispute resolution. They shed light on essential aspects of arbitration at SIAC, providing an in-depth overview of the SIAC Rules. The discussion encompassed pivotal topics such as the Expedited Procedure, Emergency Arbitration, Early Dismissal, Joinder and Consolidation, as well as innovative hybrid processes like Arb-Med-Arb.
The stimulating Roundtable Discussion concluded with an engaging Q&A session, during which the attendees posed thoughtful questions to the speakers and actively participated in stimulating discussions.
