Announcement by the Ministry of Interior regarding the granting of permission for foreigners to remain in the Kingdom of Thailand. Dated 7 April 2020.
The Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an automatic visa extension to all foreigners residing in Thailand for all visa types, including Visa on Arrival, P.30, PP. 14, PP. 30, and PP. 90 which had not expired prior to 26 March 2020.
Foreigners will be able to reside in Thailand until 30 April 2020 without having to apply for an extension at the Immigration Office and the 500 baht/day fine is exempted for this period. However, once the situation returns to normal, foreigners must apply for an extension at the Immigration Office as usual or be subject to penalties applicable under law.
The one year deadline to return to Thailand for foreigners with a permanent residence permit who are currently abroad is extended until the end of the state of emergency and foreigners must submit proof of having left the Kingdom.
Foreigners who are holding a Border Pass will be allowed to stay in Thailand starting from 23 March 2020. However, once borders open again, foreigners with Border Passes must leave Thailand within 7 days or be subject to penalties applicable under law.
Foreigners who are due for the 90 day report between 26 – 30 March 2020 are not required to report to the Immigration Office during this period. However, once the situation returns back to normal, foreigners must report to the Immigration Office as usual or be subject to penalties applicable under law.
